• Act as a voice to Government & other influential bodies with an involvement or interest in transportation;
• Market and promote the benefits of travel planning and ‘smarter choices’ initiatives;
• Incorporate different disciplines to achieve behavioural change, such as marketing and psychology
• Be an international forum to identify and exchange examples of best practices and to disseminate and develop consistent approaches and best practice nationally;
• Foster and undertake research and to disseminate the results;
• Provide and support educational and training opportunities to help equip professionals and communities with the skills needed;
• Collaborate with relevant like-minded organisations and stakeholder groups at international, national or local scale.
• Develop and promote ideas and initiatives to reduce car use, such as car sharing, public transport, walking and cycling and alternative work practices to reduce the need for travel and its harmful impacts.
Our History
ACT TRAVELWISE was formed in 2008 from a merger of The Association for Commuter Transport (ACT) and the National TravelWise Association (NTWA). Both organisations were membership bodies that have been working to promote travel behaviour change since the mid-1990’s.
Our Board of Directors were elected at the EGM on 6th February 2008.
The board of directors are elected by the membership, and it is a rotating position, so once a year we invite members of ACT TravelWise to put themselves forward to become Directors of this Board. Only one representative per organisation can take a seat on the Board.
