Everyone knows the problem; we have become dependent on the private motor car.

The use of the private car continues to rise, causing congestion, affecting the economy and our health. These unique posts will help challenge perceptions about travel opportunities in Essex, to reduce congestion and provide the residents and workers of Essex with a better quality of life.

This will be achieved by promoting the use of sustainable travel options and travel plans, especially considering the healthy option of walking where appropriate.

These posts are about actively promoting sustainable transport and healthy travel alternatives.

We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated and persuasive people to join our dedicated teams, working with schools, businesses, developers, public transport operators, local councils, as well as other colleagues in Essex County Council.

These two posts are to head up two small teams working on either school or workplace travel.
